If the fascia (connective tissue) is tight, if you’re swollen, have a lot of cellulite, or have been exercising a lot, it can sometimes be very painful. However, it is not dangerous. If the pain feels uncomfortably intense, start very gently with less vacuum suction and don’t cup for too long. It’s a good idea to start with static use to warm up the area before you begin dynamic cupping. The more you increase circulation and loosen the connective tissue with the cups, the less it will hurt in the future. Remember to drink extra water after cupping.
