About cupping

A cupping treatment feels sort of like a firm massage. As a result of the vacuum created by the cup, the skin and tissue is partly sucked into it. Which in turn increases blood circulation, activates the lymphatic system and reduces stagnation.

With Curam massage cups you can easily treat yourself and enjoy both static and dynamic cupping depending on your needs and what you prefer.

Static cupping

With static cupping you leave the cup in one place and let the cup do its job for you. For larger body areas use Curam Dynamic and/or Curam Static, for smaller body areas use Curam Static. The negative pressure forces oxygen-rich blood to flow into the area and helps to release tension, reduce muscle stiffness, reduce swelling, treat trigger points, improve mobility, increase relaxation and speed up muscle recovery time after workout.

General guidelines for static cupping

01

Apply cup to skin, squeeze the cup on both sides on the line or compress from the top, then release to create a vacuum suction. Make sure that the bottom of the cup has full contact with the skin while squeezing.

02

Squeeze cup more firmly or gently to adjust the degree of suction.

03

Leave the cup in one place and let the cup do its job. For an even better attachment you can use body oil on the skin before applying the cup. You can also use the cups in the shower using body wash.

04

To prevent cupping marks, don’t leave it on for too long.

05

Suggested use: 2-3 times a week, 3-5 minutes per area.

06

Curam cups can be used both pre and post-workouts.

  • If bruised easily, reduce the suction and don’t let the cup stay on for too long.
  • If the cup doesn’t attach, place it more gently on the skin and squeeze it slower or add some lubricant.
  • Curam’s massage cups can be used throughout the body except for groin, face, armpits, genital and lower abdomen.
  • During the treatment, a few red spots may emerge at the treated area. This is normal and they will disappear after a few days. Also, you can experience some discomfort during the first treatment due to tissue tension but that will gradually decrease as your body adjusts to the treatment.

Dynamic cupping

Dynamic cupping, using Curam Dynamic massage cup, when letting the cup slide over the skin, stimulates booth the blood circulation and the lymphatic system and is an efficient purification of slag products. Densified connective tissue and poor blood circulation can lead to pain and cellulite. Therefore, it is good to speed up the circulation.

For releasing stiffness, improve mobility and flexibility and to treat sored muscles especially when there is more than one trigger point in an area, dynamic cupping may be preferable. Which make you able to work on large areas with movement.

General guidelines for dynamic cupping

01

Place the cup against the skin, squeeze the cup on both sides on its widest part, and then gently release to create vacuum suction. Make sure that the bottom of the cup has full contact with the skin while squeezing.

02

Slowly pull it over lubricated skin for it to slip easily. Use a body oil or if in shower – body wash.

03

Move the cup slowly along the length of your arm, leg, buttocks, back or other areas of your body. Use sweeping massage strokes in an up/down, and/or zig-zag pattern or round circles.

04

Squeeze cup more firmly or gently to adjust the degree of suction.

05

Suggested use: 2-3 times a week, 2-3 strokes at each area. If needed, increase the number of strokes gradually, allowing the body to adjust and respond.

06

Curam cups can be used both pre and post-workouts.

  • If the cup doesn’t attach, place it more gently on the skin and squeeze it slower or add some oil/lubricant.
  • For lymphatic drainage, hold the cup in the direction of the lymph nodes to help flush away waste and slag products. Do not leave cups on the lymph nodes.
  • If experience discomfort, move up wards and skip down wards movement. Start at the bottom again, repeating the movement.
  • During the treatment, a few red spots may emerge at the treated area. This is normal and they will disappear after a few days. Also, you can experience some discomfort during the first treatment due to tissue tension but that will gradually decrease as your body adjusts to the treatment.

Facial cupping

For facial cupping you are continuously moving the cup to prevent cupping marks. The movement of the cup creates stimulation, moves blood around the face, and drains toxins through your lymphatic system. As the excess fluid gets drained, you can be rewarded with less puffiness and a noticeable facelift. The suction pulls blood and nutrients from the deepest layers of the skin, to the surface. This stimulates your skin and connective tissues and can leave you with a refreshed glow and smoother skin.

General guidelines for facial cupping

01

Apply Curam face & massage oil to a clean face and the area you want to treat, in order to help the cup glide smoothly over the skin and to increase the benefits of your cupping session.

02

Begin your session by opening up the lymph flow at the clavicle pit by pumping the cup a couple of times, see instructions on the Lymphatic drainage program.

03

Gently apply the cup to the skin over the area you want to treat such as your face, neck, chest or décolletage. Squeeze on each side to create a vacuum and release slowly. Make sure that the bottom of the cup has full contact with the skin while squeezing. For smaller and more sensitive areas use the mini cup.

04

Use slow sweeping gliding massage strokes and perform out and up motions or use Flash cupping. Move the cup the whole time to prevent cupping marks. Work one side of your face at a time. End with a few lymph strokes from hairline down towards collarbones.

05

Facial cupping is said to increase product absorption, so apply Curam face & massage oil again to nourish your skin and increase the benefits of your cupping session.

06

Suggested use: 3-5 strokes at each area, 3 times per week.  Do not use on fresh scars, sundamaged or in other way damaged skin. Do not cup directly over Botox or fillers.

07

If you are new to facial cupping it might affect your skin and cause pimples in the beginning. This is because of the detox process when the flow is started. Start gently and then increase use gradually.
