Q: Static VS dynamic use

Both methods are effective against stagnation as both increases blood circulation and lymph circulation. Dynamic cupping may be preferable when there is more than one trigger point in one area and to work on larger surfaces using movement. Dynamic cupping is also excellent for removing stagnant lymph fluid and blood, and let fresh blood into an area. For facial cupping, dynamic use only to prevent cupping marks. Both static and dynamic cupping are a good way of loosening the connective tissue around the trigger point, allowing further movement of fluids after treatment. Both methods also affect the fascia – the outer connective tissue, which in turn also affects mobility. Use dynamic cupping before or after exercise to affect lactic acid and accelerate the body’s recovery. Dynamic cupping is also recommended for treatment of cellulite. Static cupping is preferable to treat specific trigger points.

Q: How do I attach the cup?

For dynamic use, use Curam Body & massage oil to make sure the cup slide and for it to attach tightly to the skin. The oil will also improve the benefits of your cupping session. You can with advantage use the cup in the shower with water and shower cream. Affect the amount and intensity of vacuum suction by compressing your cup more or less. It is normal for the cups to release the suction sometimes, just re-place them if that is the case. Massage movements should be slow. Find the pattern that works best for your skin type or condition. For the body, we offer two different cup sizes that you can switch between depending on your target area and the cupping technique (dynamic or static). Remember that everyone’s skin elasticity is different and ones skin condition (dryness, elasticity) can change from day to day. Some days, cups can slide without problems and another day they may release easier, just apply them again and continue with your cupping technique. With a little practice you will discover what works best for you. For facial cupping, apply Curam face & massage oil to the area you want to treat, in order to help the cup glide smoothly over the skin and to nourish. Gently apply the cup to the skin over the area you want to treat and squeeze on each side to create a vacuum. Move the cup slowly.

Q: How do I use the cups?

Place the bottom of the cup against the skin, then simply squeeze the cup on both sides against the skin. This creates a suppression in the skin which affects the connective tissue of the muscles and subcutaneous tissue. You either leave the cup still or with the dynamic cup you can slowly pull it over the skin on the surfaces to be treated. In order to move around the cup, the skin should be lubricated before treatment, allowing the cup to slip easily or use it in the shower with water and shower cream. You can also place several cups over muscle knots or trigger points and let them work on several areas simultaneously.

Q: Should I move the cup in a certain way?

For static use, just attach the cup on the desired area of the skin and let is sit for a few minutes. For dynamic cupping, move around the cup with either zigzag, up and down, or side to side movement. For lymph massage, it is good if you move the cup in the direction of lymphatic stations such as groin, knee joints or armpits. For facial cupping, starting at the center of the face. Use slow sweeping gliding massage strokes and perform out and up motions. Move the cup the whole time to prevent cupping marks. Work one side of your face at a time. End with a few lymph strokes from hairline down towards collarbones.

Q: It feels a little painful on the skin when I massage with the cup, is it normal?

Yes, this is normal. If it feels uncomfortably painful, especially in areas with a lot of cellulite, we recommend gradually increasing the massage. First day only 2-5 minutes and with less vacuum. Later, the vacuum can be increased and the area can be massaged for a longer period of time. Gradually the skin will get used to it.

Q: How often should I use the cups?

For beginners, we recommend starting with around 3 times a week, for both the body and face. This can be increased as needed and as your body/face gets used to the treatment. The body often tolerates more cupping, and for some people, daily cupping works well. For static body cupping, start with a couple of minutes per area, and for dynamic cupping, perform a few glides per area, then gradually increase based on how it feels for you. If you are cupping your entire face and performing lymphatic drainage, we recommend cupping 3-4 times a week. It can be beneficial to take a rest day occasionally, especially for lymphatic drainage, to allow your skin time to recover. The mini cups can generally be used more frequently or for targeted treatment with the large facial cup on specific areas. Experiment and find what suits you best—the most important thing is to start gently and listen to your body’s signals.

Q: How do I clean the cups?

Q: How many cups do I need?

It depends on which areas you want to treat and how effective or intense you want the treatment to be. With more cups, you can save time and treat multiple areas simultaneously by combining static and dynamic use. When multiple cups are placed on one area, the treatment feels more powerful and deeper.

Q: How do I recycle silicone?

At most recycling stations silicone is not possible to recycle, instead you put it in residual waste and it burns up. Silicone does not release hazardous substances even if burned.
