Q: How long does a silicone cup last?

At least 5 years. Exposing the cup to strong sunlight or very high temperatures (over 200 ° C) can make the color fade, especially the pink model.

Q: What are Curam's massage cups made of?

Curam's massage cups are made of 100% premium quality silicone, which consists of four, abundant and readily available natural elements: oxygen, carbon, hydrogen and silicon; Silicone is the second most common element in the earth's crust (found in dust and sand, for example). These elements are heated to create a liquid-like substance which is then cured and formed into our massage cups. Silicone is a great product since it is a non-porous, non-toxic material that can withstand temperatures from -150 to 460 degrees Fahrenheit. Our cups are made of 100% high quality food grade silicone which is BPA free, phthalate free, lead free, latex free, PVC free, nitrosamine free, non-toxic, hypoallergenic and sterilized. Quality checks are carried out strictly by SGS to ensure that the silicone used for Curam's massage cups meets both REACH and ROHS standards.

Q: How are Curam's massage cups different from other cups?

Curam's cups are designed and developed in Sweden together with trained cupping therapists to secure the best design, the right flexibility and suction ability. Our cups are made of durable, "BPA-free food grade silicone" which means it is 100% eco-friendly silicone. They are ergonomically designed and grip-friendly, antimicrobial, easy to wash and easy to use. Cups made with low-quality silicone can easily break down and potentially cause bacteria. Therefore, be careful when making your choice. With two different models you can easily find the right option for your needs. Curam Static massage cup is suitable for static use while Curam Dynamic massage cup can be used advantageously for dynamic use as well as for static use on larger body surfaces.

Q: Is there any similarity between cupping and acupuncture?

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, both cupping and acupuncture promote "Qi" by drawing energy and promoting blood flow to the area of the body experiencing inflammation or poor lymph and blood circulation. According to TMC, Qi is the life energy that flows through the body in energy pathways, so-called meridians. When Qi flows freely, we are in good health. If this Qi becomes blocked or stagnated, problems can arise and we experience symptoms.

Q: How long does it take to feel or experience a result?

In many cases, the result (depending on what you are aiming for) can be felt and experienced only after a couple of times of cupping. Many experience an immediate impact. With regular use, there is a high chance that you will experience increased mobility, muscle relaxation, increased circulation, improved skin elasticity, decreased puffiness and much more. The results are cumulative so for best effect regular use is recommended.

Q: How does cupping feel?

Most people find that cupping massage is very relaxing (especially afterwards), and that it decreases stiffness and tension. Cupping is generally not painful, but depending on the individual's sensitivity and body status as well as the intensity of the treatment, you may experience moderate discomfort. Cupping can thus be felt properly, but should not normally hurt. Redness or feeling of heat in the cupped area is an indication of increased blood flow to that area and nothing harmful.

Q: Who can benefit from cupping?

Q: What does the research/science say about cupping?

What we know from the limited scientific studies that have been done is that cupping works by expanding the capillaries and increasing the amount of fluid that enters and leaves the tissues. Although there is plenty of anecdotal evidence that cupping can be effective and safe, very few clinical studies with humans have so far been conducted, making it difficult to “prove” many of the age-old benefits of cupping therapy. With that said, it has worked for millions of people for thousands of years.

Q: What happens in the body when I do cupping?

When you attach the cup to the skin, a negative pressure is formed which affects and lifts the connective tissue in the muscles and subcutaneous tissue. The cup causes the area to attract fluids which primarily means that the influx of blood increases. In addition, cupping has an effect on the lymphatic system. Increasing the supply of blood improves the body’s ability to heal itself and helps the lymphatic system get rid of a larger amount of slag products than normal. In densified connective tissue more slag products accumulate, and with increased blood flow, a purification process can begin. Cupping can help you relieve tensions, increase muscle relaxation, mobility and skin elasticity, decrease puffiness and minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Q: What effects does cupping have?

Cupping is said to contribute to deep connective tissue massage, which among other things leads to the removal of slag products and lactic acid, improved circulation, activation of the immune system, recovery of muscles, tighter and more vital skin, increased mobility, reduction of cellulite and muscle relaxation. Research on the scientifically proven effects of cupping is currently relatively limited and it is considered important to carry out further studies which clarifies the biological mechanism and clinical effects of cupping.
